Bargello
Privacy policy
Last updated October 12, 2026
The short version. Bargello stores your account and your stitching (projects, sessions, photos, notes and supply plans) so it can sync between your devices. We use a few service providers to run the app: Cloudflare for hosting, an SMS provider for sign-in codes, Sentry for crash reports and RevenueCat for subscriptions.
We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers. Write to hello@getbargello.com any time to see, fix or delete what we hold about you.
Who we are
Bargello is a mobile app for needlepoint stitchers, for iPhone and Android. In this policy, “Bargello”, “we” and “us” mean the people who make and run it. If you have a question about your privacy, email hello@getbargello.com.
What we collect, and why
Your account
- Phone number, if you sign in with your phone. We send it a one-time code by text message and keep a short log of codes sent to each number, so we can limit how often codes go out.
- Name and email address, if you sign in with Apple or Google (and, from Google, a link to your profile picture). They come from Apple or Google when you choose to share them. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email.
- Display name, which you can change. It is shown next to questions and answers you post.
- Sign-in sessions: when you sign in we record the IP address and user agent (basic device and app details) with the session, to keep your account secure.
Your stitching
Projects, stitching sessions (when and for how long you stitched), progress photos, notes, supply plans, and the canvas questions and answers you post. These are stored on our servers so your work is backed up and syncs between your devices. The app also keeps a copy on your phone so it works offline.
Questions and answers are public to other Bargello users, with your display name. Everything else in your projects is private to your account.
Things that stay on your phone
Some things never leave your device: the areas you split a project into, your project and weekly stitching goals, the running timer, the interests you pick when you first open the app, and your reminder settings. When you sign out, Bargello deletes your data and photos from that device; your synced data stays in your account.
Reminders
Stitch reminders and streak reminders are local notifications, scheduled by the app on your phone. We don’t run a push notification server and we don’t receive anything when a reminder is shown.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or hits an error it sends a report to Sentry: what went wrong, the screen you were on, your device model and operating system version, the app version, and your Bargello account ID (a random identifier, not your name, email or phone number). We also collect a sample of performance data, such as how long screens take to load. We use this only to find and fix bugs.
Subscriptions
If you buy Premium, the purchase is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your account has Premium; it receives your Bargello account ID and your purchase history for Bargello from Apple or Google.
Shop links
Bargello shows links to shops that sell canvases, threads and other supplies. Some are affiliate links: if you buy something after tapping one, the shop may pay us a small commission. It never changes your price. Shop links go through our server first, which records the click so we can credit the right partner: which link was tapped, the time, your approximate country, your browser’s user agent and referring page, and a one-way hash of your IP address (we don’t store the address itself). These click records are not tied to your Bargello account. Once you reach a shop’s website, that shop’s own privacy policy applies.
This website
With your permission, getbargello.com uses Google Analytics to measure page visits. Google receives a random cookie identifier, basic browser information and your IP address, which may be used for approximate location. We do not send form contents, email addresses, URL query strings or fragments. No Google script or cookies load until you choose “Allow analytics”. Advertising features remain disabled. Use “Cookie settings” to reject analytics later and delete its cookies. Your choice is stored on this device for up to 180 days. See Google’s Privacy Policy. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles requests to the site, and its fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them. If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply.
If you join the launch list, we store your email address, when you signed up and the country your request came from (as reported by Cloudflare). We use it only to email you when Bargello launches. To be removed from the list, email us.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information.
- We don’t show ads, and the app has no advertising or marketing analytics SDKs.
- We don’t use your photos or notes for anything other than showing them to you.
Who helps us run Bargello
We share data only with the providers we need to run the app, for the purposes above:
| Cloudflare | Hosts our servers, database and photo storage, and this website. |
|---|---|
| Twilio | Sends sign-in codes by text message to your phone number. |
| Apple and Google | Sign in with Apple or Google, and in-app purchases through their stores. |
| RevenueCat | Keeps track of Premium subscriptions. |
| Sentry | Crash and error reports. |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users. If Bargello is ever sold or merged, your information would move with it under this policy, and we would tell you first.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and stitching data for as long as you have an account. Sign-in code logs are kept only as long as needed to limit abuse. Crash reports are deleted automatically by Sentry after a limited period.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your data. Most of it is right there in the app. For a copy of everything we hold, email us.
- Delete your account. Email hello@getbargello.com from the address or phone number on your account and we’ll delete your account, projects, photos and notes from our servers. Questions and answers you posted are removed or anonymized.
- Turn off reminders in the app under Account → Reminders, or in your phone’s notification settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, for example to object to processing or to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to us and we’ll help.
Children
Bargello isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app.
