Delete your Bargello account

  1. Sign in to the Bargello app. If you have been signed in for a while, sign out and sign in again.
  2. Open Account and tap Delete account.
  3. Read the confirmation and tap Delete account again.

The app needs a network connection. It confirms deletion only after the server accepts it. Your account, sign-in sessions, linked identities, projects, stitch sessions, photos, notes and supply plans are then removed from the database. Private photo files are queued for cleanup; signed upload URLs can remain valid briefly, and cleanup runs every six hours. File cleanup can take several hours. Failed cleanups are retried.

If the connection drops during deletion, the app may not know if the server accepted it. Your local work stays on your device while you retry. After the server's seven-day retry receipt expires, you can sign in to check the original account. You can also choose to discard the local copy, including unsynced work. That choice does not confirm or cancel server deletion. The app warns you before removing it. If deletion was accepted, the app retries device cleanup until its database and photo files are gone.

Two temporary records can remain after deletion. To prevent SMS abuse, we keep send times under a secret-keyed code for your phone number for the existing rolling one-hour limit. These new records have no raw phone number or account ID. Deleting and recreating an account does not reset the limit. Rows older than one hour never count, even if cleanup is delayed or fails. Expired records are deleted on sends and by a job scheduled every minute. They are normally deleted within minutes, and in any case we aim to delete within 24 hours. This is a physical deletion target, not a guarantee. A delayed or failed job can leave rows in storage longer. We log an aggregate alert for rows older than 24 hours, with no phone number, key or record ID. For photo cleanup, a record keeps the photo path, including your old account ID, until R2 confirms the files are gone. We then remove it. Failed sweeps retry, so there is no exact deadline for that record or the photo files to disappear.

Your questions and answers remain in readable threads. Their author is shown as “Deleted” with no account ID or avatar. The text of each post stays visible, including any personal details you wrote in it.

Deleting your Bargello account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it in your store subscription settings. Bargello cannot remove purchase records held by Apple, Google or RevenueCat through this in-app action. Crash reports held by Sentry and SMS delivery records held by the SMS provider follow their separate retention processes.
